Read of the Week

March 26, 2017

Read of the week is Ensnared by A.G. Howard. Gosh, I truly hope I'm able to get through this book. This is the third installment in the Splintered series that I've been trudging through and dang this is getting rough. I do really like the story line which is about a girl that is a descendant of Alice Liddell the original Alice in the Alice in Wonderland stories by Lewis Carroll.

The main character, Alyssa, discovers in the first book that the reason her family has had a long line of psychological problems is because Wonderland is real and Alice truly went there and caused a bunch of havoc. In order to set things right she descends down the rabbit hole to undo what's been done and cure her family of this curse.

Three books later she's still trying to put things right and has gotten her human boyfriend mixed in to all of this as well. Not to mention the ridiculous love triangle with a netherling from Wonderland who "understands her dark side." Now, don't get me wrong, we all love a good love triangle but this is getting a little absurd. Three books strong and we're still trying to decide between the human boyfriend and the fairy boy from Wonderland. I feel like the author is milking this for all it's worth and I've completely lost interest. This is why I'm struggling to get through this last book. Being 80 pages in we have learned some interesting things about Alyssa's family and the many ties they have to Wonderland but for goodness sake enough is enough. This book series is told from a first person perspective which makes it all the more nauseating to read about the constant internal struggle. Just choose already!

Anywho, my hope is to conquer this by the end of the week so I can move on to my next book series which will be Rebel of the Sands by Alwyn Hamilton. This book series comes highly recommended by my friend Emese so I'm definitely looking forward to reading it. Until next time kids. Wish me luck!
